Birmingham BFAINFORMATION At BSS Birmingham's Brazilian Futebol Academy (BFA), the emphasis is on preparing our older, more dedicated players for the chance to develop careers playing professional football. The Academy acts as additional training, as players continue with their weekly Brazilian Soccer Schools training hours. BFA players should be training for a minimum of 20 hours per week with the ball. Youngsters at South American professional clubs including Vasco, Santos and Boca Juniors, train for over 20 hours every week from Under 12's upwards. The focus of the training is still very much on technical development, however players are also encouraged to develop both physically and mentally. Our BFA coaches make sure that our players are stronger, fitter and faster than any others, as well as being technically superior. Academy members will be monitored on a weekly basis, with a personal training programme - tailored to fit their specific needs. Only players who reach Level 3, 4 or 5 on the ICFDS Skills Badge Scheme are eligable to join the Academy. BFA players at U15's are put forward for inclusion into our ICFDS National Squads programme, as their final step before professional football. Junior AcademyINFORMATION Primary School children who have completed Levels 1 and 2 of the ICFDS Skills Badge are now invited to join our Junior Academy. The Junior Academy provides our hard-working young players with the opportunity to increase their training hours through an extra-intensity session, as well as giving them the chance to put their skills to the test in fast-paced matches of both Futebol de Salão and conventional football.
