This capped a wonderful year for Makalya who was playing Westchester Youth Soccer League only last spring. Now she has made the Manhattan Soccer Club U12 Premier team and ODP all in one year! According to Head Coach Horace McFarlane, Mikalya is one of the happiest girls you will ever meet. She is always smiling and always willing to try a new skill. She has increased her juggling to 150 and has developed her own BSS fab five (combining 5 moves into 1) which requires fast footwork. Congrats Mikayla Alcorn!
BSS Player Jafi Alexis is on the Rise BSS player Jafi Alexis recently returned from a summer soccer camp with the Bundesliga team Eintracht Frankfurt FC, in Germany. Eintracht Frankfurt is one of the top clubs the Germany. After one week of intense soccer training Jafi received several awards: the first award he received was for achieving a score of 136/140 for his overall performance on the field. The second was an MVP award at the end of the week that was received for being the most talented player among a field of kids at the camp. The group included fifteen year olds! The coaches were highly impressed with his individual skills and he was invited back to the club for a two week academy training camp to be held in the summer of 2012. As per his father (Julien), the coaches were very impressed by his skills once Jafi got on the field and began to perform. They were so impressed with his skills that they have invited Jafi to return next year for a two week academy for their more gifted players. According to BSS coach Horace McFarlane Sr, “Jafi’s talent: speed, dribbling skills, coordination and soccer IQ is exceptional and will take him to great heights. Everyone who has seen Jafi play understands that he is a talented player and always leaves an impression. Next year both he and his dad are looking to expand his international soccer experience.” This trip caps a tremendous year so far for the diminutive player from the Bronx, New York. In April, he attended the Mundialito tournament in Portugal, which included teams from Real Madrid, Barcelona, Sporting Lisbon, Rangers, Everton, and Valencia to name a few and Jafi left his mark. According to Horace A. McFarlane Sr. Director of Coaching at Brazilian Soccer School/Bronxville and Jafi’s trainer, he ran into Coach Daniel Goncalves, academy coach at Sporting Lisbon, at a conference in New York and asked if he recalled seeing Jafi at the tournament. Coach Gonzalez said that all of the participating team coaches who saw Jafi play spoke very highly of him. The Real Madrid coaches were also impressed by the “Morenito’s performance.” Jafi is currently looking forward to going back to the BSS fall program starting in September. Play the Brazilian Way using flair and creativity be the best on the field of play! http://www.youtube.com/user/BSSchannel You can learn to Play the Brazilian Way through our extensive range of programs: Individual 1:1 Coaching Technical Training Programs-Groups Team Training programs We believe that children do not spend enough time training, they may spend a lot of time playing matches, but generally children do not
spend enough time working on their skills and thus at BSS we have a full syllabus for children from 5 years old to 16 year old whereby an increased duration of actual time spent training and working with the ball is a crucial element in our work. BSS are changing the way that football is played at the highest level, by changing the way that we train children to play the game, however this cannot happen without children spending increased time practicing their skills. At BSS we are able to promote this in a safe and fun environment. FILM STAR GETS TIPS FROM BSS BRONXVILLE Brazilian Soccer Schools (BSS) Bronxville recently shared its secrets to footballing success with film star Hugh Dancy as the English-born actor readied himself for the forthcoming film, ‘Coach’.
Dancy has starred in films such as Basic Instinct 2, Black Hawk Down, Elizabeth I and Shooting Dogs, and the production team behind the film approached New York-based BSS head coach Horace McFarlane to enlist his help for the role.
BSS has a strong history of involvement within the film industry. Founder Simon Clifford has worked on productions such as There’s Only One Jimmy Grimble, Kicking and Screaming, The Damned United and Kicking and Screaming, in the latter two assisting Keira Knightley, Jonathon Rhys Meyers and Michael Sheen with their parts. Coach is currently being shot in New York, and McFarlane was only too happy to lend his hand using the methods that have helped nurture the talents of players such as Micah Richards, Michael Owen, Wayne Rooney and Theo Walcott.
“It is really exciting to be working in a different environment using our methods,” Horace said. “Hugh wanted to work on specific skills for the movie.
“Being from England, I assumed that he was a soccer player, but he stated that he played very little. However, he was able to learn the ‘Robinho step over’, ‘Ronaldo chop’ and the ‘Maradona’ pretty quickly.” BSS Bronx Players Called up by USA |
