Secretary of State for Children, Schools and Families, Ed Balls, and MP for Leeds North East, Fabian Hamilton, with Simon Clifford (holding daughter Mary) at BSS Leeds Brazilian Soccer Schools recently received a special visit from the Secretary of State for Children, Schools and Families, Ed Balls, joined by local MP Fabian Hamilton, with both taking part in a coaching session and discovering more about the work that the world’s largest football organisation does.
Brazilian Soccer Schools founder Simon Clifford was at the network’s Leeds centre to meet both MPs, discussing the work that the operation network does in the UK and overseas. Coaches employed under the Future Jobs Fund scheme were also on hand to share their experiences, whilst both minister Balls and the right honourable Mr. Hamilton had the opportunity to hone their own football skills with the world's number one and critically acclaimed as the 'best football programme in the world'. They also had top tips from the organisation's founder Simon Clifford. Brazilian Soccer Schools began in 1996 when Simon set up the first operation in Leeds, and outposts are now found in 63 countries across the globe. Also on hand were SOCATOTS youngsters, to show off the skills developed through the world's first soccer specific physical play programme for pre-school children. Minister Balls commented "I had obviously heard a lot about this project over the years and was very keen to meet Simon for the first time. The exciting thing is, having seen it and talked to Simon, not where things are at the moment but where things are going to go with this driven man and incredible and unique initiative". |
